Celtic Tree Month of Oak Begins (Tomorrow June 10)

The Oak moon falls during a time when the trees are beginning to reach their full blooming stages. The mighty Oak is strong, powerful, and typically towering over all of its neighbors. The Oak King rules over the summer months, and this tree was sacred to the Druids.

The Celts called this month Duir, which some scholars believe to mean "door", the root word of "Druid". The Oak is connected with spells for protection and strength, fertility, money and success, and good fortune.

Carry an acorn in your pocket when you go to an interview or business meeting; it will be bring you good luck. If you catch a falling Oak leaf before it hits the ground, you'll stay healthy the following year.

Make a Bar of Money Soap

Make up a batch of money soap to help bring prosperity your way.

You'll need the following items:

Glycerin soap base
 Green food coloring
Equal parts three of the following:

Bay leaf
•Basil
•Chamomile
•Clover
•Cinquefoil
•Tonka bean
•Myrtle
•Apple blossom
•Sunflower
•Pennyroyal

Optional:

•A shredded dollar bill
•Gold flakes

Melt the soap base in a double boiler, following manufacturer's instructions. Select your three herbs and blend together equal parts. Use a mortar and pestle to grind them down as much as possible. Add them into your melted soap. Add one or two drops of green food coloring -- but don't overdo it, because a little food coloring goes a long way!

If you'd like to use gold flakes or strips of a shredded dollar bill, add them now.

Pour melted soap into prepared molds, and place them in a cool place to harden. Allow soaps to sit at least twenty-four hours before removing from the molds. Wash your hands with this soap to bring prosperity into your life, or use in a ritual bath. Another fun idea is to wrap the soaps in paper, tie with a pretty ribbon or piece of raffia, and give them as gifts to friends.

Full Moon Magic

* Full Moon Magic *

It takes about 14 days of growing bigger for the moon to grow or wax completely full -- that night you will see the Full Moon rise as a perfect circular disk. This is the Light of the Moon, and it is reserved for light works and dedications to benevolent lunar deities. It is used for celebrations and prayers for peace.

                      The Full Moon
                      rises almost exactly at sunset
and sets almost exactly at the next sunrise.

From fourteen to seventeen-and-a-half days after the new moon. Prime time for rituals for prophecy, protection, divination. Any working that needs extra power, such as help finding a new job or healing for serious conditions, can be done now. Also, love, knowledge, legal undertakings, money and dreams.
